Shiok Meats

Founded in August 2018, Shiok Meats is a cell-based seafood and meat startup with a proprietary technology to isolate stem cells from shrimp and crustaceans.
Shiok Meats aims to solve the social issues of food and protein crisis, climate change, and marine pollution in Asia through the production of clean shrimp and crustacean cell cultivation.

Regarding this investment

Toyo Seikan Group has joined the series A round of fundraising totalling US$12.6 million, which was led by Aqua-Spark, a Dutch investment fund.
As Shiok Meats aims to launch its cultured minced shrimp products in 2022, the funds raised goes to the construction and operation of the world’s first commercial-scale pilot plant for cell-cultured crustaceans in Singapore.
As a packaging company, we will contribute in the areas of packaging, storage, distribution and commercial operations of the innovative novel proteins.
